Mirror Neurons

Go to the PBS site where Mirror Neurons are discussed:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/3204/01.html.

Click on the middle section labeled “Monkey See Monkey Do” and listen to Daniel Glaser discuss his latest research on mirror neurons. His research subjects were dancers. How might this research be applied to other areas of movement? Think of an area of movement that you are good at or have knowledge of such as gymnastics, soccer, baseball, basketball or tennis. If you were to watch others do movements associated with what you are good at, can you relate to how these might resonate in your own brain?

1.Write several paragraphs on how these mirror neurons might be resonating by explaining some of the movements that could be seen in the physical activity you chose.
2.Write one paragraph about the significance of mirror neurons and how they relate to our early development.
