Dilemma 1:

A child in your class was abandoned by his mother and is being cared for by an uncle and his girlfriend, whom you suspect may be drug dealers. Your staff has documented numerous instances of neglect and emotional abuse, which you reported to your local childcare protective services (CPS) agency. An investigation is completed by CPS and the child is allowed to remain in the uncle’s home. The situation does not seem to be improving. As a teacher what should you do? Dilemma 2:

A boy in your classroom has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He sometimes scares the other children with his boisterous and frenetic activity. A parent who is also a kindergarten teacher notices his behavior and asks you what the problem is and what you are going to do about it. Utilize the Ethical Dilemma Form to guide your reply.
