Unconditional Love

Unconditional Love

Unconditional love is that love, which two lovers portray when they are in love with one another. In this kind of love, the lover is ready to do anything for the loved one despite the circumstances. A good example for the unconditional love is the love portrayed by the mother towards his newborn child. Unconditional love can be between a parent and a child, a brother and a sister and even two lovers who are really in love with each other. Different circumstances can be used to portray unconditional love.

In the essay, “I Fell in Love or My hormones Awakened” by Judith Ortiz Cofer, unconditional love has been expressed in several different ways. It is an essay about a young girl who had a crush on a young man who was older than she was and they were in the same college. In the story, the girl is ready to do anything so that she either could see the man or are get noticed by the man. At first, the girl usually liked to be send to the shop so that she could have a glance of the young man who she had fallen in love with (Barnet, et al.). The girl had unconditional love towards the young man and at one point in the essay; the girl had to give up her favorite cookies so that she could have a glance at her lover (Barnet, Cain, & Burto, 2011).

The sweetest part about unconditional love is that it is always a two-way traffic, the lover and the one being loved. This means that there has to be communication. Finally, the young girl’s secret is finally revealed when the young man kisses the girl along the school hallway after the annual extravaganza (Barnet et al., 2011). Unconditional love in the essay has been used to show a circumstance in which a young who has just had his first crush can go through so that she could finally share love with her loved one. In the story, unconditional love has also been shown the situation where it has cut across between races, the young girl is Puerto Rican and the young man is Italian. Finally, in the circumstance, between the rich and the poor where the young girl is poor but the boy is very rich.

Unconditional love can also be seen in the poem “the passionate shepherd to his love” by Christopher Marlowe where the lover is writing to his loved one. It is a love poem of a man writing a poem to his lover asking her to come and stay with him. The lover is trying to show the kind of unconditional love that he has for his lover by trying to invite her to stay with him. In this circumstance, the man has portrayed the unconditional love by telling his lover he is ready to provide anything. He has said, “A gown made of the finest wool which from our pretty lamb we pull” (Barnet et al., 2011). This means that he is ready to provide anything that he can to his loved one therefore; in this circumstance, the man has unconditional love towards his lover.

The poem “Bait” by John Donne is also a love poem and is a about a lover who is trying to convince his lover to come and stay with him. He is trying to show his loved that he has been caught by her love and he cannot do anything to escape from it (Barnet, et al.). He has been caught by her love like that fish that is in the net, which are helpless. He is a man full of love but entangled by the different set backs that keeps on pushing him from his loved one but despite the set backs he is ready to love his lover. Therefore, in this circumstance, the man portrays unconditional love to his lover with the way he says he as a fish, which is helpless, but because of his love he has been able to survive through and finally her love has made him be able to escape from the net. Unconditional love is being portrayed in times of need and difficulties in a relationship.

The man also tries to invite his loved one to come and stay with him. He is praising her beauty by telling her; how her eyes are so beautiful they can even warm the water that runs through a river without the sun (Barnet et al., 2011). He continues to say that her eyes have left those fish in the water only begging to be let away from the bait but the fish, which escapes and swims away, is only wiser than he is. Therefore, the man is trying to say that he has unconditional love for that woman to the extend love has made him to become a fool. In this context, unconditional love has been portrayed in a circumstance where the man is praising the beauty of his loved one.

Unconditional love is also evident in the poem “A valediction: Forbidding Mourning” by John Donne, which is another sad love story of a lover who is living his lover. He has tried not to mourn but because of the deep unconditional love that he has for his lover, he cannot bare that pain. He says “let us melt and make no sense no tear- floods, nor sigh-tempests move” (Barnet et al., 2011). The man in love is trying very much not to mourn as he is trying to hide his deep unconditional love that he has had for his lover. He continues to say instead of mourning let us remember of the joyful moments they have had and tell other people. The lover is trying to express his unconditional love by trying to remember of the joyful moments, which they have had instead of mourning so that he could be happy. The poet has shown that the unconditional love can also been in a circumstance where the man has been left or is living his lover.

The man also describes of how their souls have been made to be one despite the fact that man has destroyed the world with many social evils. This means that despite all the set backs they are having, love has brought them together and they will always be together. This shows that they have unconditional love in them since it has surpassed everything, that is, is all the ungodly things of the world. Finally, the lover has said that they will always be together forever and ever even after death. This means that the man loves his lover unconditionally regardless of the situation that he might be facing. Therefore, unconditional love has cut across all the set backs even when somebody is leaving the other one for good.

In the poem, also a love song “Love song” by Joseph Brodsky is a good love song of a man singing to his mistress trying to show her how much he loves her. He has used many rhythms to show her how much he loves her and what she would do if they were in a certain situation. The first situation the man has portrayed unconditional love to his mistress is the point of singing her a love song. In his first line of the song “if you were drowning, I would come to rescue you in my blanket and pour hot tea” (Barnet, et al.) shows that the man is ready to do anything for his lover hence he has unconditional love towards her.

It is also worth noting that the man has decided to show the different ways he would love his lover if he were in several situations. This is very romantic because the circumstance symbolizes unconditional love towards his lover. The lover who the song is addressed to if he has the opportunity to here or read the song he will be filled with emotions of love and joy because she will have understood the writer or the singer unconditional love towards her. Therefore, it can be clearly understood that unconditional love has been portrayed in the song in the different situations. He also wishes that if she was his wife they could be married forever because in the heavens and the bible divorce is prohibited (Barnet et al., 2011). Therefore, in this situation, he wishes of that love, which will never end and it will be signified by their marriage hence it can be concluded to be unconditional love.

Lastly, in the story “Sunday in the Park” by Bel Kaufman, the parents and their child, who was being bullied by another child, have displayed a lot of unconditional love. They were in a public place where there was a lot of sand and children were coming to play under the supervision of their parents. When the children were playing the bully started throwing sand towards the other child. The first time he missed but the second time the sand hit the other child on the head and the forehead. The child, who was hit by sand, looked at his mother in readiness to cry (Barnet et al., 2011). Due to unconditional love, she kept quiet so that he could let her son fight his own battles. However, the fight escalated to the point both parents were involved and they even wanted to fight but because the mother and father of the beaten child unconditional love towards their son, they had to stoop low and not fight so that they could set a good example to their son. Therefore, this means that the parents had unconditional love for their young son despite of the anger they had they could not fight so that they can set a good example to their son.

Unconditional love has no boundary on whom to love and who not love. In the story there is love between the father and the son and from the mother towards the son. This means that love has no boundary between different ages. Therefore, we can say that unconditional love does not know of any age or family ties. In conjunction to this, unconditional love has been shown in different ways, that is, an adult and a child. The story has also shown unconditional love inform of a lesson towards the child. The lesson is no violence/fighting despite the amount of anger, you might be having. This means their child will grow up to become a good boy due to the example that has been set by his parents.

In conclusion, unconditional love has no boundary between age and race. In the first story, the girl was Puerto Rican and the young man was Italian. This means that unconditional loves cuts across between races. In the other story, both parents had unconditional love for their child. This shows unconditional love between different age sets. Additionally, it has shown that unconditional is not for lovers but also for those people who are related. Finally, the poems have shown the romantic side of unconditional love between two lovers. In conjunction to this unconditional love has been portrayed in different situations. The first situation is when a love one is living another, secondly in a situation where the lover is singing for his mistress, thirdly in form of a lesson to the children and finally as love between young and old coupes.
