Write a 1- to 2-paragraph analysis and evaluation for each article focusing on how it supports your chosen topic.

Assignment 2: Annotated Bibliography

First I need an annotated bibliography for a position paper related to a review of current research on the correlations between substance abuse and mood disorders.

An annotated bibliography is a brief summary and analysis of a journal article. For this assignment, you must provide an annotated bibliography of at least six peer-reviewed academic journal articles describing research related to your chosen topic. The articles do not need to be empirical studies but are required to be primary sources. Each article must have been published within the past five years.

The annotated bibliography will be used as a part of the literature review for the position paper.

I have located and attached the six peer-reviewed academic articles. What cannot be used for this assignment are web pages, any web sources, Wikipedia, textbooks, and other books.

In a 3-5 page Microsoft Word document, assemble the annotated bibliography and address the following:

  • Write a 2-paragraph summary for each article.
  • Write a 1- to 2-paragraph analysis and evaluation for each article focusing on how it supports your chosen topic.
  • Integrate what you learned in your course readings in that analysis.
  • Use SPA format, including:
    • Title page
    • Double space
    • Reference page

Apply SPA standards to the citation of sources, including the use of in-text citations and full references. The annotated bibliography is due by March 6.

Assignment 2: Position Paper

In this assignment, I am looking for a 6- to 7-page position paper on the correlations between substance abuse and mood disorders.

The paper should adhere to the below-mentioned guidelines.

Your paper should have the following sections:

  • A title page
  • An abstract (not more than 250 words)
  • An introduction (not labeled)
  • A literature review (discussion of your topic—the body of your paper)
  • Discussion and conclusion section
  • References

Introduction: The introduction should be of 1- to 2-pages in length. The introduction should include a brief overview of what will be covered in the paper and its purpose.

Literature Review: The literature review, which refers to the review of six peer-reviewed academic journal articles, is a synthesis of the research you conducted in annotated bibliography assignment and other literature found on this topic. The literature review is not a copy of that material. Rather, it is a review and synthesis of the material that you have found into a cohesive discussion of the topic. In other words, it is a discussion of your topic backed by information you learned from reviewing the literature on your topic. This will be the bulk of your paper.

Discussion and Conclusion: The difference between a great research paper and a marginal one is the depth and originality of the discussion and conclusion section. The discussion and conclusion section is the area where you can bring together the learning that you have attained from your literature review as well as throughout the course. It is the area for the concluding remarks regarding your topic. The discussion and conclusion section should be of 1- to 2-pages in length.

Reference Page: Remember to apply SPA standards to your entire paper, including citation of sources, use of in-text citations, and full references. This part of the assignment is not due until March 12.
