Paper on how Geographic Information Systems is being used in how Autism children are place in what school(education) system. How many are there in the Western New York area?

Directions

 Write a minimum 3-page paper on how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is

being used in an industry or career of your choosing. Choose an industry or career

that you think you may be interested working in, or one that you’re interested in

learning more about.

GIS in Education GIS in Health and Human Services

GIS in Real Estate GIS in Emergency Response

 After selecting your topic, research at least 3 journal articles or case studies that

describe how GIS was used in that specific industry using ECC’s library resources.

 For each article or case study:

o summarize the problem, or question being asked;

o summarize the results of each case study;

o Include the Source, Title, and Author

 Include at least one final paragraph describing:

o why you think GIS is used in the industry;

o what advantages a GIS system has for solving spatial problems in the

industry

o how you think GIS will be used in the future of the industry

Guidelines

 The paper must be at least 3-pages (typed, double-space using 12-point font,

1” margins).  At the end of your paper, attach a Sources Cited page listing the

sources you used.

o Proper format for citing sources can be found at:

 The paper must be handed in no later than Tuesday, December 14th.

 Grading – 75 points for material content; 25 points for writing style.

o This paper is worth 10% of your final grade

 Write with precision and clarity; Spell Check and proof read

 Give your paper a specific title which clearly describes its contents.

 Organize your paper to summarize one case study at a time. End with at least

one final paragraph summarizing your thoughts and opinions on the advantages

of GIS and the potential future uses of GIS in that industry
